Mark Twain, Monty Python and Paul Rhymer

I have mentioned on at least a couple of occasions how I feel Vic and Sade took on a persona that seem to be later "copied" by the Monty Python troupe.  (Not literally copied but there was an air of familiarity there to me.  I have seen all of the Python sketches.)

Well, I came across a Mark Twain work this morning that I had never read or heard before, called, "The Stolen White Elephant."

In this episode of the CBS Radio Mystery Theater, I found the episode to in many ways resembles the work of the British troupe.  And yes, in some ways, Vic and Sade, because the story is most absurd.

If you are a Vic and Sade fan (and I suspect if you are reading this blog post, you are) you can do no harm by at least listening to this episode (which is very good and quite unusual) and see if you can draw the similarities with Python.  And in doing so, you can perhaps see there is an imaginary line drawn from Twain to Rhymer to Monty Python.
